Chapter 2536 The Unexpected Gift:>66
- "Thanks," I said fighting the urge to kiss her. "I am starved..."
- "Well let's get going and get some food in your belly."
- I texted the girls and told them I was going to be late. Fiona texted me back that a letter had been hand delivered from the Chancellor's office. They hadn't opened it but it seemed like good news. My mood just got better and better after that. We all drove to a nearby diner where the food was good and cheap. We pushed a couple of tables together and took over half the place. Kat sat a few spots away and I knew she didn't want to show favoritism to the new guy. I was surprised at the amount of shop talk that was being openly discussed. Kat saw my look and smiled as she explained that Numenor owned the diner and all the workers had signed their own confidentiality contracts. I was introduced to everyone around the table and they were all wide eyed when they recognized my name. Then they were asking me how my first day went and I shared the idea for my prototype. Jaws dropped around the table and they admired my gumption to take on so difficult a project. But I was green lighted to continue on with my research. Even if it never worked out the possibilities of sub projects were too attractive to turn down. Then I took out my phone and decided to seal the deal with Kat. I took photos of everyone around the table but she was the only one I ensnared. I wanted her badly and didn't want the chance of her keeping me at arm's length just because we were coworkers. Of course everyone was staring at the transparent phone with envy. I told them that my uncle had built it. But I would talk to him about selling the rights to the transparent titanium.
